The Manitoba Stampede kicked off last weekend in Morris to a great turnout, with attendees from all throughout Manitoba and North America coming not only for the stampede, but also for the entertainment and activities the stampede boasted.
“I love the atmosphere here” shared Stephanie Cruickshanks, who was volunteering with the team penning event. Her 16-year-old son was riding in the competition last Saturday, a competition that does not always coincide with the stampede. “Our team penning competitions usually just happen independently” shared Cruickshanks. “It’s been really fun to be part of a larger event.”

The stampede is quite the draw for both locals and folks from all over, and Sam was far from the only person not from the area enjoying the show. She and friend Melissa were saving their seats well in advance to the stampede itself, and for good reason: “If you’re not here early enough and you have a big crowd with you, it’s kind of hard to sit together” shared Sam. As for what they look forward to in the show? “My favourite is the bull riding” shared Melissa. “I’m very similar” added Sam, “I just am in awe with what these cowboys and cowgirls can do on animals.”
