Construction season continues throughout Portage la Prairie and Central Plains.
Crews this morning were seen moving, filling, and levelling gravel and dirt along 24th St near Sisson's Drive and the Golden West Radio station here in Portage la Prairie.
Workers told PortageOnline that they're planning to lay down a first layer of asphalt today to improve the driveability of the road section. A second layer will be laid at a later date.
Meanwhile, metal fencing still surrounds the area behind the roadway, located in the Rona parking lot, that's anticipated by many locals to be the future site of a Wendy's restaurant.
No official confirmation has come from the corporate side of Wendy's as of yet, and is not expected to until the project - whatever it ends up being - nears completion.
For now, locals can stay frosty as they look forward to a smoother drive along that stretch of road.
