A new addition to Okotoks' Arts and Learning Plaza is being unveiled this week.

On Wednesday, July 23, the Town of Okotoks is holding a grand opening ceremony for a new water feature in the space.

The Town's Parks and Recreation Director, Christa Michailuk, said funding for the project was donated by a local family back in 2020.

"They selected the Arts and Learning Campus as the site that they'd like to make a contribution to as being kind of the heart of the community, downtown area. And so, we worked with them to determine that they wanted to enhance, really animate that plaza space."

The water feature was installed near the buffalo play structure in Ethel Tucker Park and will utilize a similar water recirculation system as the spray park near the recreation centre.

It also features architectural lighting that will be active in the evenings.

An accessible washroom and water fountain are also planned for the site.

The ceremony is scheduled for July 23 at 5 p.m.
