The Moose Jaw Miller Express came from behind to pick up an 11-10 win over the Regina Red Sox last night at Ross Wells Park. It was a make-up game for Saturday's postponement due to rain.
Regina opened with three runs in the top of the first inning, but Moose Jaw replied with two runs in the bottom half. Thomas Soto scored on a catcher’s error, and Tanner DeGrazia hit a single to drive home Austin Gurney.
The Red Sox extended their lead with six runs in the top of the third to go up 9-2. However, Moose Jaw outscored Regina 9-1 the rest of the way.
Moose Jaw scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth. William Edwards singled to score Gustavo Soto and Ben Waliczek, and Gurney hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Thomas Soto.
The Miller Express added another run in the fifth when Andy Rivas hit a solo home run.
Regina made it 10-6 in the sixth inning, but Moose Jaw scored three times in the bottom half to make it a one-run game. Eduardo Saenz slugged a two-run homer, and DeGrazia hit a solo shot.
Moose Jaw then took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Saenz hit a single to score Edwards and Waliczek for the game-winning runs.
The win puts the fourth-place Miller Express four games back of Regina for third and eight games ahead of the fifth-place Weyburn Beavers.
The Moose Jaw Miller Express are back in action tonight when they host the Weyburn Beavers at Ross Wells Park. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
