A crash just outside Gimli has claimed the life of a Winnipeg woman.
The collision happened around 5 p.m. on Monday, July 21st, at the intersection of Highways 326 and 329 in the Rural Municipality of Bifrost. Emergency responders arrived to find two vehicles in the ditch southwest of the intersection.
According to the RCMP, a pickup truck was travelling southbound on Highway 326 when a sedan, heading west on Highway 329, crossed into the intersection. The vehicles collided and sent both off the road.
The driver of the sedan, a 34-year-old woman from Winnipeg, was alone in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup, a 58-year-old man from Arborg, was treated at the scene and did not require further medical attention. His passenger, a 53-year-old woman also from Arborg, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gimli RCMP and a forensic collision analyst are continuing to investigate what led to the crash.
