The federal government has issued a recall on several models of pools, which may pose a drowning hazard for children.
The affected brands have a series of compression straps on the outside of the pool legs, which can create a foothold for children to access the pool, posing a drowning risk.
The following products are affected:
Bestway Models Sold 2008 to 2024 - Coleman Power Steel, Power Steel, Steel Pro
Intex Models Sold 2003 to 2012 - Metal Frame Pools, Ultra Frame Pools
Polygroup Models Sold 2006 to 2025 - Outbound, Funsicle, Summer Waves, Summer Escapes
As of July 17, 2025, none of the companies have received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the companies have received 3 reports of incidents and 9 reports of drownings.
The Federal Government recommends consumers immediately determine if their pool is included in the recall and contact the appropriate company to request a repair kit. Until the pool is fixed, consumers should make sure children cannot access the pool unattended or drain the pool.
