Carnie's Comments
I was talking about daylight earlier today. For the first time in about 6 weeks, I had to turn a light on to see my keys and take them off the hook and lock the deadbolt on my way out of the house this morning. The days are getting shorter and that makes me sad.
So, as I tried to keep my chin up, I thought about all the great days still to come.
The Saskatchewan Day long weekend is just days away - it's August 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
Then we get the Labour Day long weekend. The holiday Monday is September 1st.
Let us not forget about Thanksgiving. It pops up on October 13th this year.
Oh, and Halloween falls on a Friday this time around! It's not a holiday but you can celebrate later in the evening if you have the following Saturday off.
And, for the record, Christmas and Boxing Day line up pretty well for the working class with December 25th falling on a Thursday and Boxing Day on Friday. Many will get a nice four-day weekend.
Oh, by the way, Christmas is five months from Friday. As of today, we only have 155 shopping days remaining.
