The Moose Jaw Miller Express defeated the Weyburn Beavers 4-1 last night at Ross Wells Park to pick up their third straight win.

After Weyburn opened the game with a single run in the top of the first inning, Moose Jaw tied the game on a Robert Estrada single that scored Austin Gurney.

Moose Jaw's defence held the Beavers scoreless for the next eight innings.

The Miller Express took the lead in the bottom of the second. Thomas Soto hit a single to score Andy Rivas. Ben Waliczek then scored as Soto attempted to steal second base, making it 3-1 for Moose Jaw.

In the bottom of the third, Moose Jaw rounded out the scoring when Pacey Phillips singled to drive in Tanner DeGrazia.

Westin Walls got the start on the mound for the Miller Express. He went eight innings and allowed one run on three hits, with no walks and nine strikeouts. Maddox Mateychuk earned the save, allowing no hits, no runs, one walk and striking out one batter as he pitched the ninth inning.

The win puts Moose Jaw nine games up on the fifth-place Beavers and three and a half games back of the Regina Red Sox for third place in the WCBL East Division.

The Moose Jaw Miller Express are back in action tonight when they host the Medicine Hat Mavericks at Ross Wells Park. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
