It will be a day full of free family fun on Sunday in Bruno with the Show and Shine returning with its 19th edition.

Registration runs from 9-12 am, with the car show taking place from 9 am- 3 pm.

Chairman Brian Krentz says one of the top features at the Bruno Show and Shine is having the car show on the grass surface at the Bruno Sports Grounds.

“It’s cooler to walk on than pavement and softer on the feet as well and this gives us plenty of room in the ball diamonds. We have two at our disposal as well.”

Along with the local regulars from Bruno and Humboldt, Krentz noted in the past they’ve received entries from several communities in the province including Saskatoon, Prince Albert, North Battlefords, Melfort, Nipawin, Tisdale, Watrous, Moose Jaw, and Regina.

He added that a bunch of cars will be travelling from Manitoba for the event.

A DJ will be onsite for the entire day providing a musical background.

At the conclusion of the car show, awards will be handed out at 3:00.

The Dragster from Reid Holland Motorsports will be in town for the show and shine will be fired up for demonstrations at 12:30 and 2:30.

There will be other activities besides the car show in Bruno.

The day begins with a pancake breakfast from 9-12.

For the children, there will be a bouncy tent, Thomas the Train will be offering rides, there will be face painting, and a fishpond.

Another popular annual feature at the Bruno Show and Shine is the Vintage Tractor Pulls.

“They have different weight classes and these are all factors that were used previous to what you see in the field now many without cabs,” says Krentz.

He says if you want to enter the event with your vintage tractor, you have to get it weighed and then you will be placed into a class. The weigh-ins begin at 9:30 am with the tractor pulls getting underway at 11 am.

Krentz says the event is a nice nostalgic trip.

“While you're sitting in the stands watching the polls, you'll see various makes and models. Memory might come back to some people, like they use those themselves or their grandfathers. It’s something good to see.”

Still thriving after nearly two decades, Krentz credits the event's success to the volunteers and sponsorship.

Admission to the events of the Bruno Show and Shine is free. Krentz noted the only things people will have are food and drink.

Proceeds of the event go to the Bruno Lions Club. Krentz says the group helps out by providing food and drinks throughout the day.
