18U AAA Red Sox open provincial championship with a walk-off loss to Sask Five Marlins

The East Central 18U AAA Red Sox dropped their first game in the 18U AAA Provincial Championship on Thursday afternoon, losing to the Sask Five Marlins 2-1. 

It was a walk-off win for the Marlins, scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth inning.  

Sask Five opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first inning.  

The Red Sox tied the game in the top of the seventh when Jaxon Schleper knocked in a run with a double.  

East Central was held to three hits in the game.  

Dayne Schommer pitched 4.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits.  

The Red Sox will look to rebound on Friday. They meet the White Butte Broncos at 12:00 and then at 6:00 they will square off with the Regina White Sox.
