The Calgary Police Service (CPS) is asking for information from the public regarding a recent suspicious interaction in south Calgary.
The incident happened in the community of Auburn Bay on Tuesday, July 8, at around 4:30 p.m.
According to CPS, three children were playing outside in the 300 block of Auburn Meadows Manor S.E. when a man approached them and asked if they had seen his dog.
The children told the man they had just seen a black-and-white dog run past, pointed him in the direction it went, and the man walked away.
About half an hour later, the same man returned in a vehicle and approached the children again, offering them candy in exchange for help finding his dog.
One of the children said they would help, but declined the candy. The man allegedly replied that they "deserve a reward" before driving away.
The children then found a trusted adult and informed their families about the encounter.
CPS is now turning to the public for help identifying the man and the vehicle involved.
The man is described as being in his 30s, approximately 5'5'' tall, with a light complexion, short brown hair, and a heavy build. He was wearing a blue shirt and brown cargo shorts and was driving a blue-grey car.
Police are reminding parents and guardians to speak with their children about personal safety and how to respond in uncomfortable or unsafe situations.
Anyone with information about the man, the vehicle, or the incident is asked to contact Calgary police or Crime Stoppers.
