Midale residents were left on high alert this weekend following a string of break-ins that occurred late Friday night into early Saturday morning.
At 2:52 a.m. on July 26, RCMP were advised of suspects actively breaking into vehicles and stealing items. Reports quickly followed of numerous sheds, garages, outbuildings, and vehicles being hit across the community.
Security footage from a local resident capturing the suspects in the act helped kickstart the investigation. RCMP responded swiftly, with regular patrols canvassing the area and a drone operator assisting in the search from above.
According to RCMP, it is believed that the suspects included two males and one female, who may have been stranded in the community after abandoning their vehicle. As the search unfolded, Midale residents stepped up—providing tips, sharing surveillance footage, and locating items discarded by the suspects along the way.
Thanks to the combined efforts of the RCMP and community members, two suspects were located and apprehended over the course of Saturday. The investigation into the incidents remains ongoing.
RCMP are asking the public to report any suspicious activity or related incidents. They stress that individuals should not approach potential suspects but instead contact police at 306-310-RCMP (7267). Information can also be reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
