Travellers flying to the United States from YYC Calgary International Airport can now only access security screening and U.S. Customs and Border Protection a maximum of two hours before their scheduled departure.
The change is outlined in a May 13, 2025, blog post and news release on the Calgary Airport Authority’s website, where a red banner has also been posted for some time with the same information.
According to the Airport Authority, the two-hour window is intended “to reduce wait times, streamline security and make the passenger experience smoother.”
Guests are still encouraged to arrive early to check in with their airline and drop off their bags before proceeding to pre-clearance. Travellers arriving before the two-hour window can access food and beverage options in the pre-security area.
The Calgary Airport Authority also advises travellers to download and complete the Mobile Passport Control app ahead of their trip to speed up U.S. CBP processing.
