A 20-year-old man from Brandon, Manitoba is facing multiple charges following an investigation by the Estevan Police Service.
He has been charged with creating child pornography, possession of child pornography, extortion and uttering threats.
Police say they received a complaint earlier this year. With the assistance of the Manitoba and Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) units, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Brandon, leading to the man's arrest and the seizure of several items.
The accused was transported to Estevan, where he appeared in court on Friday. He was remanded into custody until Monday, July 28.
The investigation is ongoing.
That same day, officers responded to a report of an intoxicated woman near a gas station. She was located and determined not to require any assistance.
Police also received a report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located and the driver was found to be sober.
On July 26, officers responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence in the northwest part of the city. A statement was obtained, and the matter remains under investigation.
A report of a theft from a local business was also received. A witness statement and video surveillance will be obtained from the complainant. The matter is under investigation.
A man was located and arrested for failing to attend court. He was released from custody with a future court date.
