As of this month, the speed limit on Highway 39 has officially been reduced to 90 km/h when passing through the town of Midale.
According to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, the change is due to a request made by the town earlier this year, asking that the 100 km/h speed limit be reduced due to concerns about safety.
The Ministry of Highways then performed studies on the area confirming the concerns and agreed to temporarily reduce the speed limit until turning lanes are constructed in the area. The town has now passed a motion in support of the reduced speed limit.
As of this month, signs have been put up before the community in both directions officially reducing the speed limit.
Motorists are asked to obey all traffic signage whenout on the road and drive according to current road conditions. The most up to date highway information can be found on the Highway Hotline.
