The Experimental Aviation Association is remembering one of its members following a weekend plane crash near Oakbank over the weekend.

In a post on EAA Winnipeg Chapter 63's Facebook, the group say that the pilot, Peter Toth, was one of their most active members.

"Peter Toth loved working on our Emeraude and his Challenger II, and more recently flying his Challenger."

Toth was so passionate that he created a YouTube channel to share his work with others.

"I always enjoyed chatting with Peter about his Challenger project and also about other hobbies Peter was into," said Jeff Bell on Facebook. "He was a super awesome, friendly guy and will be missed at our EAA chapter!"

According to the group, Toth had only recently received his pilot licence, and continued his training by getting his seaplane rating.

"Let's remember him by this photo, Peter flying his Quad City Challenger II, doing what he loved. Blue skies and tailwinds, my friend."

Oakbank RCMP say the small, privately owned, single-engine two-seater aircraft was found on the north side of Highway 15, west of 206 at around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

His body was also recovered at the scene.

There is no word on what caused the crash.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified and is investigating, alongside the Oakbank RCMP.
