Swift Current's recent rain helps to top off a very active round of precipitation in July.
While the rain for July 29 isn't in the books quite yet, the monthly total is being estimated at 60 millimetres, maybe even a little more. During the latest bout of rain on Tuesday, Environment and Climate Change Canada recorded 7.7 millimetres at the time this article was written.
An average July in Swift Current will usually see 45-50 millimetres of rain.
Crawford Luke, meteorologist for Environment and Climate Change Canada, reported that Shaunavon got 15 millimetres of rain before the system moved on, and Cypress Hills and area got roughly 12 millimetres.
"These numbers will get higher because it's still raining in these areas," he noted.
Luke predicted that the rain would finish in the afternoon and wouldn't return to Swift Current until the weekend.
