After reviewing the incidents between the Swift Current 57's and Saskatoon Berries on July 25th, the WCBL has announced some disciplinary action.
The league suspended Swift Current Head Coach Ruddy Estrella for 10 games and Assistant Coach Shawn Lee for 5 games.
Estrella's suspension means he won't be eligible to return to the dugout before the end of the WCBL season.
The league also suspended 57's pitcher Hunter Mark for 5 games for his part in the incidents, including hitting Ethan Murdoch with a pitch in the top of the 9th inning.
Berries outfielder Jalen Freeman was suspended 5 games, while pitcher Alex Chumrau received a 2-game suspension after he hit Luis Ayala in the bottom of the 9th.
Berries Head Coach Joe Carnahan and Assistant Coach Chance Wheatley each received single-game suspensions that they have already served.
The 57's apologized for the incident yesterday. They announced that Assistant Coach Kenny Jinks and injured player Brody Alexandre will be guiding the club until the return of the coaching staff.
Swift Current is home to the Medicine Hat Mavericks tonight.
