Cochrane’s Furry Fun Fest wrapped up with a whopping $9,212 raised for the Cochrane & Area Humane Society.

“It was a tremendous success,” says organizer Jana Husmann. “I never imagined it would grow this big.”

Despite some last-minute weather issues, the event was quickly relocated to the grassy area beside the Cochrane Lions Event Centre.

“We had over 400 people come through,” says Husmann. “We moved everything and it turned out even better.”

Furry Fun Fest featured corgi races, K9 demonstrations, agility courses, food trucks, and even a painting mini horse.

“There was so much to see and do. One of the ponies painted a picture that we actually auctioned off.”

Vendors and sponsors lined the event grounds, many already asking to return for next year.

“We had huge support from local businesses like Cochrane Roofing, King Flooring, and Happydogz,” Husmann says. “We couldn’t have done it without them.”

She also credits her co-host Sylvia from Pet Valu for keeping the energy high and the planning on track.

“Sylvia was the rock,” says Husmann. “She believed we could hit $10,000. I wasn’t sure, but she pushed for it.”

Donations poured in from attendees, vendors, and sponsors, helping the event nearly double its $5,000 fundraising goal.

“We just wanted it to be a fun and free event,” Husmann says. “And look what our community did.”

With this year’s success, plans are already in the works for 2026.
