Mike and Katie Szeles have been recognized as Moose Jaw’s latest 'Notoriously Good Neighbours.'
The honour, presented by the City of Moose Jaw and the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce, highlights residents who embody the spirit of Canada's most Notoriously Friendly City through consistent kindness and community involvement.
The Szeles were nominated by neighbours Sheila and Brian Leahy, who described them as a caring, reliable presence in the neighbourhood.
“Katie helped my husband Brian rush to the aid of a neighbour when he fell,” Sheila wrote in the nomination. “They are kind and caring and always watch out for their neighbours in need.”
The couple is known for their friendly sidewalk chats — often accompanied by their dog, Norman — and their everyday efforts to support others on their street.
“We are blessed to have them on our street,” Sheila added.
As part of their recognition, the Szeles received gift certificates to the Tunnels of Moose Jaw, one of the city’s signature attractions.
Moose Javians are encouraged to nominate their own “Notoriously Good Neighbours” using the Report an Issue feature at MooseJaw.ca or through the City of Moose Jaw app. More information on how to build a stronger community can be found in the city’s Notorious Nine – Nine Ways to Be a Notoriously Good Neighbour guide.
