A southwest farm is one of nearly three dozen setting up to invite the public to immerse themselves in farming culture on the prairies.

The Hodgeville Colony, situated southwest of Hodgeville and southeast of Hallonquist, will participate in Saskatchewan Open Farm Days, taking place next weekend.

Eddie Hofer, a member of the Hodgeville Colony, shared that the Hodgeville Colony will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on August 9.

"We're excited to host this and let the public know where their food comes from and what farmers grow," he said. "We make food and prepare food for the world, but a lot of people don't know what farming is and what it involves."

Visitors and families can also enjoy free guided garden tours, barn animal tours, and sample farm-fresh vegetables.

"There are 35 farms across Saskatchewan [that participate in Open Farm Days], all the way from Spiritwood to Val Marie," Hofer added.

The Hodgeville Colony boasts a farm store, greenhouse, garden, bees and honey, dairy, egg production, and more. In addition to growing a variety of crops such as canola, lentils, wheat, and barley.
