A southwest park is introducing some new water activities this summer that are perfect for the whole family.

Hazlet Regional Park has initiated a free-to-join paddle club, in addition to a limited number of kayaks and canoes that can be rented out for free.

Lindsay Alliban, economic development officer for the Village of Hazlet, shared that the park has also received some exciting upgrades over the past year, including a fully covered gathering space, concession, and bathrooms.

"We have a summer student organizing some really cool events at our park," said Alliban. "If you want to learn a bit about the safety and what the best practices are for paddling, you can come out to some of our events.

"We have one coming up on August 7, it's a ladies paddle night, and we also have a drop-in with a duck rescue game on August 8."

Additionally, Friday, August 8, will also feature a family-friendly movie night with admission by silver collection.

"If you want to make sure they know you're coming so they can save a kayak or a canoe, you can contact Virginia Cook, she's our summer student, and her contact is on our Instagram," she said.

For more information, visit the Village of Hazlet on Instagram or Facebook, or email hazletedc@gmail.com.

"If you're thinking of weekend camping close to home, Hazlet Regional Park is a really good option," Alliban added.
