Winkler’s Concerts in The Park went out with glitter and bubbles last Wednesday at the Bethel Heritage Park. The annual concert series boasted groups from the area throughout the month of July, with the last one of the season featuring LRae & Jae in a sing-along concert for the whole family.

Lindsay Rae of LRae & J shared that the concert, which featured classic and new hits from movies such as Frozen, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid, came from an interest to do something different for kids and their families. “We want to do something for the kids. We haven’t seen that in the park yet” shared Rae. “We got great shows, great musicians, and now we want to add something a little bit magical for the kids.”

The concertgoers looked a little different, too. “People’s kids were dressed up as superheroes, as princesses.” Rae added: “We even had Olaf...so cute!” With the younger audience base and encouragement for audience participation, the show also included a bubble machine and a wide grassy dance floor. “They were out dancing and singing, there’s just a big dance floor full of beautiful little princesses and princes.” Rae shared.

Six-year-old Justice Odusola was dressed as Cinderella, but her favourite character is Ariel. For Odusola, the evening was packed with highlights: “I like the music, and I like the treats”— local businesses the IceCycle and Swirl and Twirl Cotton Candy Co. were set up at the park for the evening.

As for next year’s concert series? “We hope we can do this again next year” shared Rae. “We’ve got the ice cream, we got the cotton candy, just a full family event.”
