The Regina Red Sox scored 12 runs in the eighth inning to pick up a 20–11 win over the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Wednesday night in Regina.
Regina opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Moose Jaw got a run back in the fourth, with Austin Gurney hitting a solo home run.
The Miller Express then opened up a 7–3 lead in the top of the fifth inning with six runs. Ben Waliczek singled to right field to drive home Andy Rivas and Robert Estrada. Thomas Soto also hit a single to right field to score Evan Deringer. William Edwards doubled to left field to bring home Waliczek, and Gurney singled to score Soto. Moose Jaw rounded out the scoring with Eduardo Saenz hitting into a fielder’s choice that brought in Edwards.
Regina rebounded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and added another run in the sixth to make it 7–6 for Moose Jaw.
The Miller Express responded with four runs in the top of the seventh. Tanner DeGrazia singled to left field to bring in Soto. An error by the left fielder allowed Edwards and Rivas to also score. Estrada then singled to left field to score DeGrazia. Regina brought in two runs in the bottom of the seventh, with Moose Jaw leading 11–8.
Regina then put together a massive inning, scoring 12 runs on seven hits and no errors to secure the 20–11 win.
The Miller Express are back in action as they host the Weyburn Beavers at Ross Wells Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
