Voters in Spruce Woods have many convenient and accessible voting options in the provincial byelection.

MORE ADVANCE VOTING OPPORTUNITIES

With multiple locations and extended days, advance voting is a convenient way for voters in Spruce Woods to mark their ballots.

Saturday, Aug. 16 to Tuesday, Aug. 25:
Advance voting extends for two additional days at the Spruce Woods Local Election Office.

Voting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, except Sunday noon to 6 p.m.

VOTE ANYWHERE ON ELECTION DAY

Voters can vote at any polling location on election day, Aug.  26, not just the suggested polling place shown on their voter information card.

The Local Election Office will also be open for voting on election day.

MAKING VOTING ACCESSIBLE
Vote at home
Those unable to go in person to a polling place due to a disability may apply to vote at home. Caregivers may also apply to vote at home. Applications are available at https://www.electionsmanitoba.ca/en/Voting/Accessibility or from the Spruce Woods local election office. Applications must be received at the local election office by 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 25.

Voting assistance
Elections Manitoba provides several services to support voters with disabilities at polling places:

  • Voters may request a language or sign language interpreter. Contact the local election office as early as possible to request this service.
  • Polling places have Braille ballot templates and magnifiers.
  • Voters may bring someone with them to help them vote or ask a voting officer for help.
  • Voters may use assistive devices, including smart phone apps, to vote.

Curbside voting

For those unable to go inside the voting place because of a disability, a voting officer can bring the ballot box outside to their vehicle.

Absentee voting
Spruce Woods voters who will be away from their electoral division on election day and during advance voting can apply for absentee voting. Voters can apply at https://www.electionsmanitoba.ca/en/Voting/Absentee or at the local election office. Voters are encouraged to apply early so that there is enough time to retrieve and return their ballot. The deadline to apply is Saturday, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m.
