UPDATE:
As of early Friday afternoon, according to the Cochrane Community Health Centre, they are all out of COVID-19 rapid tests. They are recommending for residents to check back on Monday for hopefully a replenished supply.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Just in time for Christmas and the quickly spreading Omicron variant, it was announced earlier this week that free rapid tests would be made available to use at home.
According to the AHS website, in Cochrane, you will be able to pick up a rapid test kit at the Cochrane Community Health Centre, at 60 Grande Blvd.
The centre confirmed on Wednesday, that they would be receiving test kits for distribution starting today, (Friday, December 17).
Important facts:
- The tests are meant for personal use and are to be taken if you are asymptomatic.
- The result of a rapid test is not excepted for the Restrictions Exemption Program.
- If you have a positive result with the rapid test, you should book a PCR test through AHS.
- Each kit contains five tests and Albertans are limited to one kit per person after two weeks you can get another one while supplies last.
There are roughly 500,000 at-home test kits being made to Albertans starting today (Friday, December 17).
