A section of Highway 40 in Kananaskis Country remains closed Tuesday morning following a mudslide south of the Mount Lipsett Day Use Area.

Alberta Parks confirmed the closure in an Aug. 3 advisory, warning that pedestrian and vehicle access in the Mount Lipsett area is “unsafe due to the current conditions.”
“Maintenance crews are working to clear a landslide that occurred in the area,” the advisory stated. “Effective Date: August 3, 2025 until further notice.”

Environment Canada’s Tuesday forecast for Airdrie calls for sunshine in the morning, followed by a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms this afternoon. Fog patches are expected to dissipate by mid-morning. The high is 23 C with a humidex of 26 and a UV index of 7.
There is a 60 per cent chance of evening showers and risk of thunderstorms tonight, clearing late this evening with a low of 7 C.
Wednesday will start sunny before becoming a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms. Winds will become northwest at 20 km/h, gusting to 40. The high is 22 C with a humidex of 25.
Rain chances taper off slightly mid-week, with Thursday expected to be sunny and a high of 20 C.
