Nickle Lake Regional Park is getting ready for their annual Halloween in the Park on August 16th, with prizes for best-decorated campsites and costumes.

"Anybody who wants to help sponsor some candy or some prizes for the site decorating contest and stuff like that," invited Park Manager Darren Wheeler.

To contribute to the event, call 306-842-7522 or email nicklelakeregionalpark@gmail.com.

He said Halloween in the Park has become a summer tradition at more parks over recent years, and it's more safe for trick-or-treaters because it is still light out while they're out collecting candy from campsites.

"It seems to be getting bigger and bigger every year, over the last couple of years," Wheeler commented. "It's just warm and everybody can see the costumes. You're not covered up in the winter parkas. Little ones can go and have fun."

Last year, he said, they had between 500 and 600 kids taking part in the event.

Times and other details will be released closer to the event, and once all of the sites have registered as participating in handing out candy, the park will publish a map for trick-or-treaters to use on their adventures.
