Estevan Police Service responded to multiple calls in recent days, including several involving intoxicated individuals and a report of a child left home alone.
Officers were called to the 500-block of First Street for a report of an intoxicated male who was having difficulty waking up. Police found the man intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested and detained for public intoxication, then released once sober. No charges were laid.
Police were later called to a hotel parking lot for a report of a male who was reportedly “tweaking out.” The man was arrested for public intoxication and having open alcohol in a public space. He was lodged in cells and released once sober.
Officers also responded to a report of a five-year-old child being left home alone. When members arrived at the residence, one of the parents had returned. It was determined the child was not intentionally left alone, and there had been a miscommunication with an older sibling who was babysitting regarding when the parents would return.
Police received a report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located and the driver was found to be sober. They were issued a warning about their reported driving behaviour.
Later in the day, police received another report of a possible impaired driver leaving a local cannabis dispensary. Patrols were conducted, but officers were unable to locate the vehicle to confirm driver sobriety.
A well-being check was conducted for a local woman after family members had difficulty reaching her by phone. She was located and found to be safe. The family was updated on her status.
Police also received a report of criminal harassment. That investigation is ongoing.
Officers were again called to a local hotel for a report of two males causing a disturbance. The individuals were found to be intoxicated and at the wrong hotel. They were given a ride to the correct location, and no further issues were reported.
