The Portage Youth Hub, a program run through the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC), brought some movie magic to local youth this week.

On Tuesday, August 5th, the hub hosted a free showing of the new movie The Bad Guys 2 at Prairie City Cinema for 11 lucky registered participants, who, along with the admission, each got a free regular popcorn and drink, all paid for by the Youth Hub.

Connecting with local partners

This fun event is a result of collaboration with local business. The Youth Hub, which provides programming for young people in the area, works closely with community partners to create engaging opportunities.

The free movie event is just one of many ways the hub is connecting with youth during the summer months.

Program coordinator Shaye Lernowicz explains that, “We work very closely with local partners. Prairie City Cinema was very happy to partner with us to engage in a community event with our youth.”

Jolise Lernowicz, PCRC community engagement coordinator, also engaged with the Youth Hub to help facilitate the event.

Summer Fun for Youth

The free movie event is a part of the hub's summer programming.

Lernowicz highlights that programming, saying, “We try to engage the youth in different ways. So, while kids are out of school and have more time on their hands, we thought what better way than to connect over a movie.”

She also encourages youth to stay connected with the hub’s future events, noting that with school out, the hub aims to provide youth with fun activities to fill their time.

This particular event required advance registration, and the Youth Hub invites as many local youth as possible to take part in their upcoming programming for the remainder of the summer.
