An early morning fire in the city's West End kept crews busy Wednesday morning.
Just before 3:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service received a call about a fire in a single-storey home in the 400 block of Beverley Street. There were also reports that residents may be trapped in the house.
Smoke was coming from the home when crews arrived, and firefighters quickly launched an interior fire attack.
Crews searched the home, but found no occupants. It was later discovered that everyone made it out safely before firefighters arrived at the scene.
One person was checked out by paramedics at the scene. However, they did not require a trip to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The fire was declared under control just before 4 a.m.
The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was called to the scene to help residents find temporary shelter and support.
There is no word on what caused the fire.
The investigation is ongoing.
