Two Edmonton residents were arrested after stolen tools were found in their vehicle in Banff. RCMP.

On July 25, 2025, the RCMP Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit received a tip that power tools stolen from an Ardrossan job site were entering Southern Alberta.

RCMP quickly tracked a vehicle carrying the stolen equipment and, with help from Banff RCMP, arrested its two occupants in Banff.

Further investigation revealed the accused planned to sell the tools outside Alberta. The stolen equipment has been returned to its rightful owner.

Kenneth Ruth, 46, and Lindsay Slaby, 41, both from Edmonton, face charges of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Both have been released and are scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Canmore on Sept. 24, 2025.
