Airdrie Transit will increase weekday and weekend service on local routes starting Sept. 2, while also raising fares across its network.
Local Routes 1 and 3 will operate every 30 minutes throughout the day from Monday to Friday. Evening and Saturday service will also be added on both routes.
Regional Route 900, which connects Airdrie to Balzac and Calgary, will begin operating at 6:15 a.m. to allow for earlier access to CrossIron Mills and Calgary.
Fares will also rise.

Youth and student fares will return to regular rates following a summer discount. Local youth monthly passes, offered at $25 in July and August, will increase to $49.60 in September. Youth passes for Route 900 will cost $64.05, and $99.15 for ICE routes.
Senior monthly passes will increase to $40.70 for local service, $64.05 for Route 900, and $75.75 for ICE routes.
Cash fares are also going up. A one-way local fare will increase from $2.90 to $2.95. A booklet of 10 local tickets will cost $24.90, up from $24.50.
Calgary Transit tickets and passes are not accepted on any Airdrie Transit route.
