As summer winds down, the Estevan Chamber of Commerce is wrapping up a season of signature events — from riding the rails with Long Creek Railroad to teeing off at Networking on the Green. But before fall arrives, there’s one more key item on the calendar: nominations are now in the final stretch for the 2025 EBEX Awards.
"If you have somewhere you love to shop or someone you love to work with, nominate them! Let’s celebrate the people who make Estevan a great community. There are awards for community involvement, outstanding employee, diversity in the workplace, outstanding service — you name it. If there's a business that makes you smile, get a nomination in." - Merissa Scarlett, Executive Director of the Estevan Chamber of Commerce.

Recognizing the Best in Estevan Business
The EBEX Awards were created by the Estevan Chamber of Commerce to highlight the outstanding achievements of the local business community. From entrepreneurs and not-for-profits to legacy employers and young visionaries, the biennial event celebrates the people and organizations driving economic growth and innovation in southeast Saskatchewan.
One of the evening’s most anticipated moments is the induction into the Nick and Verna Morsky Business Hall of Fame. Nick and Verna, who were the inaugural inductees in 2011, spent more than 60 years building businesses and giving back to the community that supported them. The Hall of Fame award continues their legacy by recognizing those who’ve made a lasting impact on the Estevan business landscape.
Past Hall of Fame inductees include:
-
Bert Baxter Transport (2023)
-
Garry Hirsch of Hirsch Holdings Inc., Hirsch Construction and Redriver Lumber (2019)
-
Ed Turnbull of Turnbull Excavating Ltd. (2017)
-
Barry Bridges of McDougall Gauley Law (2015)
-
Doris and Ray Frehlick, the Sereggela Family, and the Symons Family (2013)
-
Walter Senchuk, Ron Wanner, and Nick & Verna Morsky (2011)
