AltaLink will pay $164,850 for access to land in Rocky View County, after Alberta’s Land and Property Rights Tribunal adopted a settlement between the utility and a private landowner.
In a decision dated July 22, the tribunal approved a one-year payment to 1250895 Alberta Ltd., along with $3,500 in damages, for access to a portion of land at NE 22-24-3-W5M.
Annual payments of $3,073 will begin in July 2025 and continue for as long as the right-of-entry order remains in effect.
“All Respondents have been notified, and no further claims have been received,” wrote tribunal member Glenn Selland.
The settlement was submitted on June 19 through a Compensation Order Request Form jointly executed by AltaLink and the landowner. No interest was awarded.
The tribunal adopted the agreement under section 8(3.2) of Alberta’s Surface Rights Act, which permits settlements reached between parties to be made into enforceable orders.
The right of entry was granted on July 3, 2024, by Order No. LPRT2024/SR0372, and applies to land associated with Alberta Utilities Commission Licence No. 27523-D02-2023.
The proceeding also named FortisAlberta Inc., ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd., and Canadian Western Natural Gas Company Limited.
