The WCBL West Division Championship kicked off last night (August 6), and the Brooks Bombers had a ruff go of it.

With a final score of 11-4, the Okotoks Dawgs started the playoffs on the right foot, as they chase their fourth consecutive championship title.

The game started off quiet, but the Dawgs opened up the game with a four-run second inning, and managed to score in almost every inning after that.

Not only were the Dawgs able to hold off the Bombers from scoring for the first five innings to secure the win, but they also saw success at the plate.

Connor Crowson was the standout of the night, getting a grand slam and finishing off the night with four RBIs, even though he was only at bat twice.

Ricardo Sanchez also had a hot night, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and was matched by Leo Cote, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs of his own.

Meanwhile, Zane Skansi added two hits and an RBI, and Barry Eiseman contributed a hit, an RBI, and two walks.

On the pitcher's mound, Brady Baltus only gave up four runs on four hits through five innings, walking two people and striking out four.

On top of that, Brody Forno, Chase Tucker, Reid Madariaga, and Ryan McFarland were all able to pitch for a combined four scoreless innings.

Game 2 of the WCBL West Division Semi-Finals goes tonight (Thursday, August 7) in Brooks.

If a third game is needed, it will be played at Seaman Stadium on Friday, August 8.
