Update:
The Bubble Chase was cancelled due to weather conditions on Aug. 8.
"The safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff continues to be our top priority," the Town of High River said in a Facebook post.
The town thanks participants for their understanding and patience.
"While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we look forward to welcoming you back for future events, hopefully under sunnier skies and with even bigger bubbles," the town said.
Original story:
High River residents and families were invited to run, walk, or dance their way through a bubble-filled course on Aug. 8.
The Bubble Chase was set for Friday, Aug. 8, at 6:30 p.m., at Emerson and Sunshine Lake.
The first wave of runners was scheduled to start at 7 p.m., with groups following every 10 minutes.
“Whether you're racing for fun or just chasing bubbles, Bubble Chase is the ultimate family-friendly adventure,” the Bubble Chase website said.
Participants could expect a 2.5K or a 5K course, with a sea of bubbles at the start line, four bubble bogs with music, and a celebration at the finish line.
“Bubble Chase is an entertaining race for the whole family, so everyone can have the time of their life,” the website said.
The run was described as inclusive for all ages and all fitness levels.
“Whether you’re five or 95, it’s not about speed, it’s about the bubbles,” the Town of High River said in a Facebook post.
The Bubble Chase was expected to go rain or shine, as long as it’s deemed safe.
If there is severe weather, the event will be delayed until the weather clears, postponed until the following day, rescheduled, or cancelled.
