Weyburn is celebrating local history this weekend at Heritage Village Days, with a lineup of experiences, events, and performances.
The fun will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the opening ceremonies, followed at 11:30 a.m. with sheep herding by Russell Roome. Eli Barsi will then take the stage from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., followed by De Tricky Feet Dance Studio from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Saturday's performances will also kick off at 11 a.m. with Ivy Ling, immediately followed by Marley’s Dance Studio at 12 p.m. Kelly Gill & the Hired Guns will then take over the stage from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lachlan Neville will be the last performance of the weekend at 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday will also see special activities for younger visitors, including a scavenger hunt starting at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Village office. The Weyburn Arts Council will be set up for face painting as well from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Fun in the Sun Mobile Play Park will be present for both days, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, and from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Other events will be running throughout the weekend, including live rope making, blacksmithing, and bread and butter making demonstrations. There will also be antique fire truck rides, a working steam engine and printing press, and a bake sale and barbeque; all while the historic buildings are open for touring.
Admission is free for all visitors, though donations are encouraged. While rain is in the forecast for the weekend, the City of Weyburn have confirmed that the event will run rain or shine.
