Environment Canada has lifted a severe thunderstorm warning that had been in effect Thursday afternoon for Airdrie and Crossfield.

The warning was issued at 3:24 p.m., as meteorologists tracked a storm located five kilometres south of Airdrie, moving east at 15 km/h. The storm was capable of producing strong wind gusts, toonie-sized hail, and heavy rain.

During the alert, Environment Canada warned of hazardous driving conditions, flash flooding, and hail-related damage or injury. Airdrie Transit also advised residents that severe weather was impacting traffic.
