The Red Market Barn near Kenosee Lake is preparing for a bustling Sunday as part of Saskatchewan Open Farm Days, with more than 50 vendors, fresh baking and live music on tap.
“We're going to have our Sunday market with local vendors and producers,” said Harold Johnston, host of the Red Market Barn. “Everything from the RTR, which is a group from Wawota, who are going to be baking fresh pies.”
Johnston said the market will feature food trucks and a wide variety of items for sale, including homemade clothes, baking and cotton candy.
“Just something for everybody,” he said.
Saskatchewan Open Farm Days, held Aug. 9 and 10, is a province-wide initiative that connects the public with agriculture through hands-on experiences and farm visits.
“They connected with me, and we've been on different things when the government has put on this program,” Johnston said. “It's a great way to spotlight the Red Market Barn.”
The barn, which draws visitors from across Southeast Saskatchewan, including Estevan, Gainsborough, Glen Ewan and Regina, will close for the season on Aug. 31.
Entertainment for the day will include a performance by the Caragana Ramblers from Forget, Sask.
“They're always a big draw,” Johnston said.
Visitors can find updates and vendor information on the Red Market Barn’s Facebook page.
