From humble roots to a bold new vision

David Krahn is CEO of JobJon Portable Solutions. He says the company began in 2007, founded by local construction professionals who recognized the need for better on‑site sanitation – heated facilities, running water, flushing units, and cleaner working conditions.

In 2020, Krahn’s related firm, Ironmen Industries, acquired the business. “COVID happened, things slowed down… we were negotiating for five months, and we said, ‘Let’s do it.’ It ended up being a good product for that time.”

It was both a lifeline for employees and an opportunity to pursue something Krahn is genuinely passionate about.

“I’ve always enjoyed seeing the finished products of what we build,” he says.

Growing, adapting and innovating

Under Krahn’s leadership, the business has grown substantially – first to 7,000 square feet, then to 15,000 – with capabilities for high‑volume production. To meet rising demand, particularly from mining and B.C. construction clients, the company earned key certifications and updated designs to resist heat loss, accommodate frequent cleaning (including pressure‑washer use), and withstand harsh climates.

“At the heart, we mostly sell to rental companies. These units see high usage year after year, so they must be built well,” Krahn says.

Listening closely to rental clients, JobJon developed its Evolution Series – lighter, more efficient portable wash stations engineered to hold up to repeated, rigorous use.

Meeting demands – and then exceeding them

“When our clients ask, we want to please them – but custom work slows production,” Krahn admits. Balancing that urge with the efficiencies of standardized builds has been vital.

He cites the hot‑hand‑wash unit as a standout innovation during the pandemic – a wash station that resists freezing while exposed to outdoor air.

“It drew a lot of publicity,” he says, “and showed our ability to aggressively take on difficult engineering challenges.”

Looking ahead, JobJon is expanding into modular job‑site offices and multi‑stall wash units. These units may offer offices, bathrooms, kitchenettes and meeting areas – all on wheels.

“The key is meeting differing provincial and state regulations, so our units sell across North America,” Krahn adds.

Community, clients and customer care

JobJon’s clientele ranges from rental companies and construction firms to farmers and event organizers. Krahn notes that while construction sites are the mainstay, the units also turn up at festivals, weddings, and auctions.

Supporting customers continues to be a priority for Krahn and his team.

“Service is huge,” he says. “We ship parts quickly, determine whether something’s under warranty, and we carry a large inventory. Then we figure out why it broke – and how not to let it happen again.”

That service mindset helps JobJon hold market share across North America.

“I can go to B.C. or Texas and see one of our units,” notes Krahn.
