The provincial government is celebrating some of the latest figures from Statistics Canada, as those show the province has grown at a pace leading the rest of the nation. In the data, Saskatchewan has the lowest unemployment rate in the nation at 5.0 per cent, falling below the national average of 6.9 per cent, while full-time jobs grew by 22,200 in July, leading the nation.

“Saskatchewan continues to see unprecedented job creation with a record low unemployment rate and over 22,200 full-time jobs added since last July,” said Deputy Premier and Immigration and Career Training Minister Jim Reiter. “Today’s labour market numbers continue to demonstrate that Saskatchewan is leading the nation with our strong economy, and our government is committed to ensuring this growth continues.”   

A breakdown of the labour force for July 2025 shows multiple sections had all-time highs, including:

  • Saskatchewan's labour force at 665,300.
  • Saskatchewan’s full-time employment at 532,800.
  • Saskatchewan’s male employment at 336,400.
  • Saskatchewan's female employment at 292,400.

Year-over-year, full-time employment increased by 22,200, or 4.3 per cent. Employment for women is up 13,300, a similar increase of 4.8 per cent, and employment for men is up 4,300, an increase of 1.3 per cent.

The Regina-Moose Mountain economic region saw steady unemployment figures, holding at 5.8 per cent.

Growth was also captured in Saskatchewan's two biggest cities, with Saskatoon's employment rising by 4,300, an increase of 2.1 per cent, and Regina's employment gaining by 5,600, an increase of 3.8 per cent.

By industry, multiple critical sectors saw major year-over-year gains, with healthcare and social assistance up by 9,800, an increase of 10.3 per cent. Construction also went up by 6,500, an increase of 14.7 per cent, with finance, insurance, real estate and leasing following close behind at 3,500, an increase of 13.1 per cent.
