The 45th Annual SaskExpress Summer Tour made a memorable stop in Estevan this week with its latest production, Lost In a Musical. Despite a last-minute venue change due to weather, the show went on with flair and heart, captivating the audience at Doug Third Hall.
“We normally like to take advantage of using our outdoor air stage at Boundary Dam,” said Maureen Daoust, a local organizer. “It’s kind of been a tradition that we bring SaskExpress in every August, but just due to the weather, we had to make a last-minute call.”
The musical follows three friends working in a 1950s New York diner who dream of living in a world of song and dance. After making a wish on a magical jukebox, they wake up to find their lives transformed into a musical fantasy. But as they navigate love, self-confidence, and career dreams, they discover that not every moment needs a soundtrack.
“It was New York City kind of setting,” Daoust explained. “The three main characters made a wish on a jukebox and their lives became a musical. It kind of brought them back full circle to understanding they didn’t really need to be in a musical.”
