Several bear encounters, including reports of hikers being bluff charged, have led to a trail closure and multiple warnings in Kananaskis Country.
The Bill Milne Trail between Kananaskis Village and Mount Kidd RV Park is closed until further notice after grizzly and black bears were spotted in the area, including one incident involving a bluff charge. The stretch from Mount Kidd RV Park to Wedge Pond remains open.
Bear warnings are also in effect for Ribbon Creek Trail, the remaining open section of the Bill Milne Trail, Mount Kidd RV Park, and Kovach Trail.
Visitors are urged to secure all food, garbage, pet food, and other attractants, make noise while hiking, travel in groups, keep pets leashed, and carry bear spray.
