The next phase of preparation work for the new skatepark and accessible playground project is now underway in Okotoks.
Preparations for the Southside All Wheel Skatepark and new, inclusive and accessible playground in Howard Park began at the end of June.
The work included removing the current playground, excavation, and removing aggregate material.
Now, the Howard Park Central Pathway, at 229 Woodhaven Drive, will be removed and realigned to accommodate the Southside All Wheel Skate Park.
While the pathway is closed, pedestrian detours will be put in place on Woodbend Way and Woodhaven Drive to access the Howard Park sports fields, or Woodhaven Drive from Viking Rentals or Community Drive.

During the work, residents can expect construction crews, heavy equipment, and noise during working hours.
Traffic signs, barriers, and fencing will be put in place for detours.
Parking could be limited on Woodhaven Drive, at the Viking Rentals Centre, and the Seniors’ Centre.
The project is expected to be completed by October, weather permitting.
