The Town of Nanton is warning residents of a pretty but pesky plant.
Creeping Bellflower has purple-blue bell-shaped flowers, and can spread underground quickly, taking over gardens.
The plant grows shoots from deep underground roots, which crowd out other plants, and once it’s settled, it can be difficult to get rid of.
If you spot Creeping Bellflower in your yard or garden, the town is encouraging you to pull it out as soon as possible, including the roots.
Once removed, it’s important to dispose of the plant properly.
“Don’t throw it in the yard waste pile or compost, because it’ll just keep spreading,” the Town of Nanton said in a Facebook post.
Residents are asked to bag up the plant tightly in a garbage bag and place it in a black bin for regular garbage collection.
“By catching it early and properly getting rid of it, we can all help keep Nanton beautiful and green,” the post said.
