The Marysburg Royals began the 2025 Saskatchewan Senior Baseball League (SSBL) Playoffs on the wrong side of the scoreboard with a 4-2 loss to the Saskatoon Outlaws on Monday night.
Thomas Lessmeister pitched a complete game for the Royals, tossing seven innings, allowing a pair of earned runs and eight hits while recording four strikeouts.
The Outlaws scored all of their runs in the first two innings.
Marysburg answered back with a run in the third and fourth innings, but that was as close as they would get.
Curtis Strueby led the Royals at the plate with two hits and knocked in one run. Brody Frerichs knocked in the other run.
With the loss, the Royals are now facing a must win game on Wednesday night as they meet the Saskatoon Hoppers at 6:30.
The other game in the SSBL on Monday night saw the Saskatoon River Pirates beat the Hoppers 20-7.
The River Pirates and Outlaws will meet on Wednesday night following the Royals and Hoppers matchup.
