Former outfielder for the Okotoks Dawgs, Tristan Peters, got the call he's been waiting for.

Peters played in his first major league game for the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend.

He played in a game on Friday, August 8th, versus the Seattle Mariners, batting fifth in the lineup and playing centre field.

Family and friends made the trek from Winkler, Manitoba, to Seattle to watch his debut as he played in all three games in the weekend series.

The 25-year-old caught three fly balls and went 0-for-3 at bat.

Peters last played with the Dawgs in 2019. He was the WCBL Rookie of the Year, named a First-Team All-Star, and the team went on to win a WCBL Championship, too.

He was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the seventh round.

There are now six Dawgs alumni playing in the MLB, including Jim Henderson, Andrew Kittredge, Kody Funderburk, Alejo Lopez, and former teammate Jacob Melton made his debut with the Houston Astros earlier in the season.
