Here’s a tighter, sharper version with more bite and punch:
History was made last night in Sylvan Lake as the Gulls soared into the Western Canadian Baseball League final for the first time ever.

In front of a roaring hometown crowd, the Gulls swept aside the three-time defending champion Okotoks Dawgs, sealing the deal with an 8-4 home win after taking Sunday’s opener 7-4.
Cochrane’s Simon Baker was one of the game-changers in the series, crushing a grand slam in the sixth inning of the opening game to open a commanding lead on the Dawgs. He backed it up last night with a single and a double.
The Dawgs had knocked the Gulls out in all three previous postseason matchups. Okotoks swept the series in 2021 and 2022, then needed all three games to win in Sylvan Lake last year.
Now, the Gulls wait for the East Division winner, decided tonight in Saskatoon. The Berries kept their hopes alive with an 8-4 win over the Regina Red Sox, who took game one 5-4.
