At the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Team Saskatchewan’s Men’s Baseball team wrapped up the round robin with a 2-0 loss to BC.
Team Saskatchewan was limited to a pair of hits in the game as Muenster’s Cade Britz was 0 for 2 at the plate.
With the loss, Saskatchewan finished at 2-2 and in a three-way tie for second spot in their Pool along with Quebec and Alberta.
Saskatchewan and Quebec will meet in the Qualification Round on Wednesday morning. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Friday, while the loser will move on to a quarterfinal matchup that will happen later on Wednesday.
BC finished in first place in Pool A at 3-0, while Prince Edward Island claimed the top spot in Pool B.
Semifinals, Gold and Bronze medal games take place on Friday.
Other local athletes competing at the Summer Games includes Wakaw’s Marti Burechailo is a member of Team Saskatchewan’s Women’s Box Lacrosse team.
Team Saskatchewan finished the round robin with a 3-0-1.
On Sunday, Saskatchewan defeated P.E.I 8-5, Burechailo had a goal in the contest.
On Monday, Saskatchewan began the day with a 5-1 win over New Brunswick followed with a 3-3 tie with Manitoba, Burechailo recorded an assist in that contest.
To wrap up the round robin, Saskatchewan defeated Newfoundland 10-1 on Tuesday. Burechailo had a goal and an assist in the win.
Quarterfinals are on Wednesday, with semifinals on Thursday with Gold and Bronze medal games on Friday.
Wynyard’s Daniel Laverty is competing in the Men’s Sailing Single-Handed ILCA.
In his first two races, Laverty is in 5th spot with 8 points after finishing fourth place in both races. Tuesday marked an off-day, with a return to action on Wednesday.
